What is ST3?

Sound Transit 3 (ST3) is a system expansion project by Sound Transit that was approved by voters in 2016.

The plan includes light rail extensions to Everett, Tacoma, West Seattle, Ballard, and Issaquah, increased Sounder rail service, and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service.

The original completion date of ST3 was 2041. The expected completion date for stations like Ballard if nothing changes is 2060.

The Avalon station was cancelled in 2026.

The Sounder N line will be discontinued in 2033.

The Boeing Access Road infill station will be planned, but there is no budget for construction. Sound Transit has not yet provided a date for its completion.

The status of South Lake Union station is unclear.

Is South Lake Union Station cancelled? Why do you think it’s in danger of cancellation?

This station was not included in the map for the 2026 realignment so its status is unclear.
